The site Defense.gouv goes to the Anonymous DDoS

The collective of hackers, Anonymous, claimed the blocking of the website of the Ministry of defence yesterday and today to avenge the death of Rémi Fraisse, activist against the dam of Sivens. The authorities investigate.

Yesterday the Ministry of Defence website was inaccessible for a few hours. The reason for this block: in good piracy claimed by a group called Operation GPII (great projects unnecessary and imposed) and who claims to be from the Anonymous collective. It already has an array of hunting which includes the General Council of the Meuse (for the burial of nuclear waste in Bure) and the Regional Council of Rhône (for the Lyon-Turin link), but also of PMSCs as Vinci (to the Notre-Dame des Landes airport).

A second day of attack

The group used social media to share his achievement. Twitter with a special statement addressed directly to Jean Yves Le Drian, Minister of defence. But also Pastebin to explain the reasons for this attack. It is retaliation for the death of Rémi Fraisse on October 25 during a demonstration against the construction of the Sivens dam.

The text is unambiguous. "Today we begin an operation to avenge him." The last tweet of the collective shows that the attack stopped yesterday at 6 p.m. to resume today at 10:00. According to our findings, the Defense.gouv.fr site was no longer accessible at 11:00 with a recovery at 11:30. The collective has posted on his Twitter account, a report showing the blocking of the site.

The authorities mobilized

The attack would have used the method of saturation of the servers. According to a source quoted by the newspaper 20 minutes, two IP addresses allegedly tried to bring down the servers with a massive consignment of requests.

These addresses have been identified and reported, assured the newspaper yesterday. It seems that the Group of hackers has managed yet again this morning to block servers with the same method of denial of service. On the side of the authorities, CALID (analysis in defensive computer control Centre) is on the case and there is no doubt that ANSSI (National Agency for the security of information systems) had to be sought in this case.
