PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition: sale delayed in France due to lack of sufficient safety

No date known in January 2015

In a statement released by Sony, we can read: "for safety reasons independent of our will, sale of 500 copies of the PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition in France is not taking place this Friday at Colette." The limited edition console should be marketed at a price of 499 euros and the most motivated fans were expected as early as Wednesday before showcases located shop rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré. A craze that has undoubtedly raised fears overflowing.

While the event was to be held this Friday, December 19 at 11 o'clock, fans will therefore have to wait after the holidays to try to offer this rare jewel which contains the color of the first PlayStation, exit in 1994 (in September 1995 in Europe) codes. "PlayStation celebrates its 20th anniversary, and this must remain a celebration. We put every effort to communicate as soon as possible the new procedures for sale of this special edition", said Philippe Cardon, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment France.

Already collector consoles that are resold to gold... at great prices Sony regret



If 500 copies dedicated to the France have not yet been released for sale this is not the case in other countries, like the United States, where these collector consoles have already found owner. But apparently not for long because some copies were immediately put on sale on the Internet.

Several dozen of these unique numbered have thus been proposed on eBay for prices reaching 20,000 dollars (16,000 euros), or about 40 times its original price. A black market that Sony would have well happened who regrets that these exceptional consoles are not found in the hands of true fans at a reasonable price.

"This is not what we wanted to happen. It is inevitable that it is going to a certain extent, it is impossible to avoid completely. But we only imagined that it would be at this point,"regretted Fergal Gara, the boss of Sony UK, interviewed by Eurogamer site.
