How to start Windows in safe mode

Several times, in order to uninstall spy software or to troubleshoot and make a diagnosis of your PC, you need to start Windows in safe mode. Mode safe, only programs and files necessary for the operation of the operating system are loaded. This will allow you to remove the virus, to change bad drivers as well as other diagnostic tasks that cannot be done in normal mode. Follow the instructions below to start your version of Windows in safe mode.

Method 1: 3: Windows 8

1parametrez your computer to start in safe mode. This step will not work unless your computer is able to access Windows normally now. If you are unable to access Windows, go to the next step. [1]

Type 'msconfig' and press enter


Click the Startup tab. Check the "Secure starting" and select "Minimum" for a typical safe boot. Click apply and your computer will start in safe mode the next time it will restart


This will make starting your computer in safe mode each time. To return to normal mode, repeat the previous steps and uncheck "start secure."



2Click the power button on the login screen. Use this method if you cannot access the Windows properly. Hold down the SHIFT key and click Restart on the start menu. This will open the startup parameters after the computer [2]


3Select Mode without fail. Once you are in the startup settings menu, scroll and select safe with network Mode. If you think that the network interface may be what causes problems, you can open SIMPLE safe mode.

Method 2 of 3: Windows XP, Vista, 7


1redemarrer the computer. Start tapping the F8 key as soon as the manufacturer's logo is displayed. This will open the Windows Advanced options menu. [3]
If you start tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display the message "keyboard error". To resolve this issue, restart the computer and try again.
If you see the Windows logo, it means that you have not begun to press the F8 key soon enough. You will need to restart and try again.


2select the safe mode option. You can choose normal mode without failure or safe mode with networking, or safe mode with command prompt.
Regular safe mode open Windows with the minimum of the necessary drivers for its operation and no Internet connection. It is the most recommended method for the treatment of viruses and other malware.


Safe mode with network will open the windows in SafeMode with your network connection settings. This mode is useful if you need to use the Internet to troubleshoot or download drivers.

Safe mode with command prompt will open the DOS instead of Windows command prompt. This is useful for running tools such as chkdsk command prompt.

4set your computer to start in safe mode. This step will not work unless your computer is able to access Windows normally now. If you are unable to access Windows, check the next step.

Method 3 of 3: Windows as part of a multi-boot system


1redemarrer the computer. This method is intended for computers with multiple operating systems installed. When the boot loader (the list of available operating systems) menu appears, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select the windows of the version that you want. [4]
If you have multiple versions of Windows installed and want to use mode without fail in the older version, select "earlier version of Windows".


2 press on entry, then immediately start pressing the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
If the Windows logo appears, you will need to restart the computer and try again.



3Choisissez your safe mode. There are several options available in safe mode. Select the option you need and press ENTER.
