Europe wants that Google applies the right to oblivion at the global level

According to the Wall Street Journal, Europe would extend the right to oblivion at the sites in ".com" and thus, to apply this principle into the homeland of Google.

The decision of the Court of justice of the European Union (CJEU) could go beyond search engines using 'regional' prefixes like ".fr". According to the Wall Street Journal, it could soon apply to international sites in ".com", such as those of Google, but also from Microsoft (Bing) or Yahoo. It is in any case the wish of the Group of the European CNIL.

Thus, if this text is adopted, all from European of the 28 countries of the Union could request removal of the information even if these data are available only on foreign platforms. Recall that at the present time, only national sites (in .fr or in. co.uk for example) are covered by the decision of the ECJ.

For the moment, when information is deleted from Google, they remain accessible on the European versions of the service. The US site is currently outside the perimeter.

European pressure on Google increases every day. After the vote in the European Parliament on the dismantling and the folder on the right to oblivion, the question of taxation has not yet resurfaced. But it does not delay.
